Rome is usually ranked much higher, but I didn’t find it particularly attractive as a city. Of course, it has wonderful historical monuments and ruins. Perhaps it didn’t help that I have gotten sunstroke each time I visited, in July/August. Athens is similar – incredible monuments and ruins, not so great city (and terrible air pollution!).
And here the best cities to live in (based on their quality of life)

The list is dominated by Switzerland and Germany (although personally I could not stand the winter cold!). Paris comes in at # 32. Of the cities on my list, the highest ranked is Geneva (tied at #2 with Vienna). #1 is Zurich.

looks like a good list. my friends are talking about doing a Eurotour when we all graduate, so this could come in handy
I am thinking that perhaps Bruges (Brugge) and Strasbourg should be added, Madrid should go up, and Brussels should go down.
